The Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SOPREST) was registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 by the Joint Stock Companies, Islamabad. Mr. Ghulam Ishaq Khan, former President of Pakistan, was elected its first and life-time President & Chief Executive. Mr. H. U. Beg, former Federal Finance Secretary, was its first honorary Executive Director.
