SOPREST (Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan) is a Pakistani society established in 1988 to promote engineering education, science, technology, and research. SOPREST supports high-quality technical education, research, innovation, and the development of skilled professionals to contribute to Pakistan’s progress.
President SOPREST
Salim Saifullah Khan is a senior Pakistani politician, businessman, and former Senator who has served as a Federal Minister in various portfolios, including Commerce and Housing & Works. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, USA, and has contributed to Pakistan’s political, industrial, and educational sectors, including serving as President of the Board of Governors of GIK Institute.
Mr. Shakil Durrani
Mr. Shakil Durrani is a distinguished Pakistani civil servant who served in the Pakistan Administrative Service for over 36 years. He has held key positions, including Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as Chairman of Pakistan Railways and WAPDA. He currently serves as Executive Director of SOPREST, contributing to the promotion of engineering, science, technology, and higher education in Pakistan.
